Access Statement

Eighteen97 is located on a single track road within the village of Goathland. The house was built in 1897 and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features that may make access difficult for people with limited mobility. Our guest rooms are located on the first floor accessed only via one flight of stairs. Guest rooms are at first floor level and have en-suite shower or ensuite bathrooms. The ceilings are sloping in some rooms due to the eaves. As all our guest rooms are at first floor level they are not suitable for wheelchair users.

We are located on a single track road within Goathland village, you will encounter hills in all directions. Access to the centre of the village is via the roadway, there are footpaths at some points but these are uneven stepping stones, at other times you may need to walk on the road or across grass. This is commom place throughtout the village.

The nearest shops, pubs and cafés are within easy, but not level, walking distance in the direction of The Common. Services at the shops are limited.

The nearest bus stop is opposite the shops in the centre of the village which is around 5 minutes walk. From here the Coastliner bus service runs to Whitby and York and the surrounding area, we also have copies of the local timetables for guest use.

The nearest railway station is around10 -15 minutes walk from Eighteen97. There are limited services via the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from this station. A connection may be made to Grosmount which has a mainline service along the Esk Valley to Middlesborough and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway also runs from here.
